Hood Blackout Installation Instructions You will need...
1. Hood Preparation: After washing the hood with soap and water, make sure the entire surface is free of any lingering residues or oils. Any substance other than soap and water may cause the hood blackout to peel or bubble. 2. Mix Soap Solution: Add one drop of Joy liquid soap to a whole spray bottle of water. Mix well to insure a soapy liquid throughout. 3. Spray Hood: Soak the hood down with soapy water, the wetter the better. This gives you all the time you need to position the blackout. 4. Remove Paper Backing on Blackout: Lay the graphic color-side down on a flat surface. With one person on each end of the blackout, remove the backing paper to expose the adhesive side. After the backing is completely removed, spray the soap solution over the entire surface of the sticky side. This will prevent the sticker from adhering to itself, and allow it to be moved into position. 5. Position Hood Blackout: Once again, with one person on each side of the blackout, position the blackout over the section of hood where you would like to eliminate spot-light glare. Once you get it where you want it, use the squeegee to press the blackout to the hood. In a straight up and down motion, beginning in the middle of the hood, run the squeegee over the blackout, squeezing the soapy water out from under the blackout. This allows the material to stretch out to the outer edges. Keep the top of the graphic wet with the same soapy water to help the squeegee slide easily over the surface. 6. Dry Blackout/ Cut Excess Blackout: Now that the sticker is secured in place, let it dry. Maybe running the truck, or using a heat gun can help you here. You want to eliminate any water that has been left under the blackout to avoid bubbling or peeling. The excess blackout that juts out towards the windshield can be folded under to complete the blackout installation. After two days, the hood blackout will be completely dried and set. Wax and Clay bar will not damage the hood blackout. Avoid direct contact with a pressure washer. |
