1. What is the difference between the QuickAIR and the QuickAIR2?

The original QuickAIR is a very compact twin-cylinder 12v compressor designed for filling tires that are 31 x 10.50 or smaller.   The QuickAIR2 is slightly larger, and is designed for filling tires that are 33 x 12.50 and larger.  Either compressor can fill any size of tire, so the choice basically comes down to physical space and budget limitations.

2. How fast can I fill a 31 x 10.50 with the Original QuickAIR?

To fill the tire from totally flat to 30 psi takes about 6 minutes.  To inflate the tire from 15 to 30 psi takes about 2 minutes 45 seconds.  We like the 15 to 30 psi measurement better because it gives a more practical usage.  For someone who has aired down his tires on the trail and wants to return them to street pressure, the 15 to 30 time gives you a good idea of how long it will take before you're ready to roll.

3. How fast can I fill a 33 x 12.50 tire with the QuickAIR2?

From flat to 30 psi takes about 4 1/2 minutes and from 15 to 30 psi about 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

4. Can I fill tires faster if I install an airtank?

A 2.5-gallon tank pressurized to 105 psi will fill one 33 x 12.50 tire from 15 to about 25-27 psi.  After the tank is de-pressurized, the compressor will have to fill the volume of the tire (about 30 gallons for a 33") as well as the additional 2.5 gallons of the tank.  This makes the inflation of the other three tires slightly slower.  The total reduction in inflation time using the tank/compressor combination is typically about 1 minute for all four tires.

5. What else can the tank be used for?

With the pressure tank you can operate air lockers, air horns, and some air tools.  It's also a handy tool that eases reseating of tire beads and works great with a blowgun for blasting off dusty parts and people.

6. Can I use the QuickAIR or QuickAIR2 with my ARB Airlockers?

Yes.  The simplest way would be to install the QuickAIR alongside the ARB pump and plumb the two compressors together (provided the ARB compressor is still functional).

7. What if I want to completely replace the ARB compressor with one of the QuickAIR units?

You can do that too.  You'll need a compressor (either QuickAIR or QuickAIR2), the 2.5 gallon tank, and a tank install kit (PA502A for QuickAIR or PA502B for QuickAIR2).  You can use the standard ARB switch and solenoid valve to control the locker, OR you can eliminate all those prone to fail parts with one of our Air Locker Install Kits.  These kits use a single mechanical valve to operate the whole Air Locker system.

8. Can I use a tank larger than 2.5-gallons?

Yes.  But we will not warranty any QuickAIR or QuickAIR2 that is being used with a tank larger than 5 gallons.  Any tank up to 5 gallons will work fine.

9. Where will the 2.5-gallon tank fit on my Jeep?

On a TJ, it fits behind the transfer case skid plate on the opposite side of the muffler (bolted to the underside of the floor).  On CJ's and YJ's, it can fit in the same place or in front of the gas tank laterally between the rear shocks (again bolted through the floor).

10. What kind of air hose can I use with my compressor?

With a tank setup, any standard hose will work.  If you are running the hose directly from the compressor to your tires, we recommend our 25 ft. coilhose.  The air that comes from the compressor is often very hot and will easily melt standard hose material.  Our Coilhose has a quick connect fitting that fits the compressor, a clip-on tire chuck, and uses temperature resistant hose material.  You should always use an air hose with an open chuck (one that does not allow for pressure buildup in the hose) unless you have a pressure switch installed).  Failure to do so will damage the compressor and void the warranty.

11. When do I need to use a pressure switch?

It is necessary to install a pressure switch in any closed system.  The pressure switch senses high pressure and shuts the compressor down at a preset limit, thus preventing any damage to the compressor.

12. Which pressure switch do I need to use with my compressor?

It is very important that you use the correct pressure switch.  Failing to do so will void the warranty.  For an Original QuickAIR you need the PS001.  It will turn the compressor on at 80 psi and off at 115 psi.  For a QuickAIR2 you'll need the PS002.  This switch turns the compressor on at 80 psi and off at 105 psi.  For a QuickAIR3 you'll need the PS003.  This switch turns the compressor on at 55 psi and off at 70 psi.
