Differential

After much testing in the
Safari and Hill Rally circuits we have produced our unique
combined Diff guard and steering protector. Unlike other
Diff Guards on the market the Qt Guard wraps over the front
of the casing rather than fixing to the diff pan. This has
the major advantage on not tending to crack the welds and
cause oil leaks if the guard takes a knock.
With its wrap around design
it also goes back behind the track rod preventing the track
rod from being bent backwards.
The Qt Diff Guard bolts on to
the rear axle on all Defenders, Classic Range Rovers and
early Discovery. On US Spec Rovers (LHD) the front diff
guard requires two tabs (included in kit) to be welded.
Xinc plated provides that extra level of protection and
quality you would expect from Qt services.

rear door panel comes in fine aluminum cricket weave, rather
than the agricultural checker plate of other versions. With
its fully welded door stay guard and replacement rear wiper
cover, this whole package is easy to fit and adds style and
durability to your car.

our design philosophy is simple. Cover as much as we can and make it as
strong as we can. Why do we want to cover as much as we can? There are two
reasons. The most obvious reason is that the more the skid plate covers the
more parts that are protected. The second reason is that a smooth underside
helps the vehicle slide over things that it might otherwise hang up on. And
that
means that you can get farther along the trail! We use only the
best materials and our craftsmen are the best in the business. We know that
you want protection that works and is dependable. We also know that part of
your fun is working on your vehicle yourself. So we make sure that our skid
plates are tough, but not tough to install.

Take a quick look under your Nissan and you won't find
anything to protect the most vulnerable and expensive parts of your truck.
The picture to the left shows how unprotected the transmission and engine
really are. The transfer case is just as bad. Apparently, Nissan didn't
really think you'd be playing on real trails with your Xterra or Frontier
truck. We know better! |

We've developed a set of
skid plates to protect all of the expensive drivetrain components that rocks
love to make meals of. These skid plates cover your front differential,
engine oil filter and pan, transmission, transfer case, and gas tank. They
are made of 3/16" thick steel and are powder-coated semi-gloss black for a
durable and attractive finish. They mount solidly to the truck's frame and
are specially designed for easy bolt-up installation with minimal drilling.
Nissan didn't provide enough mounting holes so you'll have to make a few.
(Six to be exact.) Sorry!
These skids have been
tested in Paragon Adventure Park here in PA, as well as in Moab, Tellico,
and on other trails all over the country. These are the best skid plates you
can buy for your Nissan. Another lesson learned during our off-road testing
is that these skid plates help you get over obstacles by preventing your
chassis cross-members from catching on whatever you're driving over. So you
not only get added protection and peace of mind, your Nissan will be more
capable as well!!
Please Note the following:
-
The front skid plate works just fine
with stock front bumpers or ARB Bull Bars, but
does not fit with Calmini
front bumpers.

The front skid plate and the
engine/trans skid plate are available separately. However, the front
skid plate requires the engine/trans or it can't be installed.

Our gas tank skid plate fits Xterras
only.

This is our new front skid plate (Part number NXT-FSP) that
replaces the factory sheet metal piece. It is designed so that
you can reach in from the side and remove your oil filter.
There's even a small hole so that the oil can drain.......Sorry,
but this skid plate must be used in conjunction with the skid
plate shown below (Part number NXT-MSP). |

an Xterra with an automatic transmission. Notice how much the
skid plate protects and how it's mounted to provide you with the
strongest, toughest skid plate available. There are holes
provided so that your engine oil can be changed, as well as your
differential lube and automatic transmission fluid! In other
words, there's no need to remove your skid plates to perform
routine maintenance. Manual trans owners will still need to
remove the skid plate to change the gear lube. Sorry about that! |
