The
Mantec rear tire carrier is designed for Land Rover Defender
hard top vehicles. The factory spare tire holder puts the
weight of the tire on the rear door and its hinges. Under
even moderate four wheeling conditions this continuous
jarring puts heavy strain on the mount, the door and the
hinges. Over time, this has the potential to wear them out
potentially destroying the door, its hinges and even the
body tub.
The
Mantec Rear tire carrier solves this problem by replacing
the factory tire carrier with a heavy duty unit. This swing
away carrier moves the weight off of the rear door and and
down to the frame of the vehicle. The end result is a robust
mounting system that can easily handle the rigors of
extended overland and off-road use.

This tire carrier
is loaded with tons of built-in features and fits between the
factory bumper ends to keep that factory fit and finish. The bumper
and tire carrier can be order separately, but please note that the
factory tire holder won't work with the bumper installed.

The visible part of the bumper is constructed from 3/16" thick
steel and is backed up with 1.5"x3.0"x3/16" wall tubing!

We worked hard to
make sure that this is the finest bumper/tire carrier available on
the market, bar none!
Note:
You'll need a set of frame stiffeners
to properly and safely install our rear bumper/tire carrier on your
Xterra. You can use ours or Nissan's, but make sure you use them!
They slide into the rear portion of your chassis to reinforce it
since it isn't all that strong from the factory and definitely
wasn't meant to handle the weight of a heavy duty bumper and a
loaded tire carrier! These frame stiffeners are made from 3/16"
thick steel and all the fasteners are welded so they won't come
loose inside your chassis where you can't reach them. They come
powder-coated black for corrosion resistance.
